On the morning of Monday 28th October 2013 Britain faced the worst storm since “The Great Storm of 1987” which cased devastation across the southeast to the Midlands.

The Worst of the storm was in the Isle of White where wind speeds reached 99mph.

There are now 220,000 homes without power across the UK, after damage to lines from falling trees and high winds, according to UK Energy Networks.

The whole transport and infrastructure system of the southern counties is still disrupted and Heathrow airport report of over 130 flight cancellations and for people to check with their airline provider before leaving home. The train lines were the worst effected with National rail reporting they have cleared over 40 line blockages before 8.00am and advising the no train will run before 11am with a reduced service thereafter.

The high winds and storms will no doubt cost the events industry dearly. The lucky ones who bought Cancellation Insurance will be glad they did as this will reimburse them for any lost costs incurred due to cancellation of their event. We can also cover the lost of revenue. (if it can be substantiated)

As well as damage to the venue or adverse weather, we can also cover cancellation due to travel delay of the important parties or percentage of the guests or delegates. This is particularly relevant in the aftermath of large storms and high winds where all trains, planes and main roads are blocked.

These unforeseen perils are exactly what event insurance is designed for, protecting an organisers financial position against circumstances beyond their control.

WorldWide’s Event Insurance policy also covers Public and Employers Liability and Property ”All Risks” for event equipment (including Marque’s, Audio/Visual and other event equipment).

One-off policies or an Annual insurance package for multiple events are both available and we cater for a wide range of events large and small.  Underwritten at Lloyd’s, the worlds largest insurance market, there really is no better place to insure your clients risk.
