This year Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 60th year as England’s and the Commonwealth’s Matriarch.
On Sunday 3rd June 2012 London will play host to more than 1,000 boats in a magnificent procession down the River Thames. The Procession will be lead by Queen Elizabeth II in the Royal Barge will begin in Putney and will culminate at Tower Bridge.
There 1,000 vessels were selected to be apart of the Flotilla from a massive 3,000 applicants and will be sure to make maritime history. The Jubilee Flotilla will comprise of a variety of vessels from steamboats to tall ships, from cruisers to kayaks and from Dunkirk little ships to dragon boats.
As well as this procession down the Thames there will be a number of festivals and celebrations. One of the biggest will be the concert being held outside Buckingham Palace at which Tom Jones will be performing. Another large event to be held will be the Festival in Battersea Park where members of the public will be able to watch the Jubilee Flotilla as it passes by the parks northern Thameside.
